what I'm up to right

now

What I'm doing:

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind.

I'm excited to announce that I've joined Baremetrics as the Head of Growth. Though it was not an easy decision to leave Cordial, I simply could not pass up this opportunity and feel so honored and blessed to be able to lead growth such a fantastic company such as Baremetrics. I've been a long-time fan of Josh, with his Founder's Journey podcast and blog as well as the Founder Chats podcast. Surreal doesn't even begin to describe the emotions and feelings I'm experiencing.

However, it hasn't all been confetti and celebration. Unfortunately, my father passed away on November 10th. He had suffered three strokes in the last 3 years, with the last one in August being the most damaging to both his health and spirits. We're happy for him to have gone to be with The Lord and be released from his body.

For that reason, I've taken a hiatus on my newsletter, TL;DR, simply because I haven't been thinking about it much and didn't feel like curating. I'll be back on it now :)

I do have a couple developments on some side projects, however:

I hosted the first-ever Indie Hackers of San Diego meetup. It was a smashing success as ~13 people showed up for a casual dinner and drinks. Everyone was very excited about the idea so I decided to start planning for the next one and get a landing page up to make communication easier.

I also recorded the intro and got the website up for The Diary Of An Indie Hacker. I'm really excited to get more into this one. I've been quietly working on some other projects to record the process and results. More on those later.

Also, we're doing a "Two Week Challenge" for Cultivate & Keep in which we publish a podcast episode and blog post a day for the first two weeks of December. We've been recording batches of ~4 episodes at a time so that's been fun (and draining)!

I did a quiet launch of my ebook Unconventional and I've seen some mediocre traffic so far. Will plan on doing some more passive promotion as time goes on.

What I'm listening to:

To be honest I'm a little burned out on podcasts. I listened to an audiobook for the first time in a while but I've just found that a lot of the podcast content I've been listening to is either redundant to what I already know or have heard or is just vague and not as helpful as I'd hoped.

My favorites right now are:
- Seeking Wisdom
- Indie Hackers
- Everyone Hates Marketers
- Money Lab
- Build Your SaaS
- Akimbo
- Founder Chats

Audiobooks:
- Shoe Dog

What I'm reading:

I haven't read as much as I'd have liked, but I'm still proud of the ones I have read:

- Atomic Habits
- It Doesn't Have To Be Crazy At Work

Themes:

This is definitely a season of change.

Between Baremetrics, my father passing, and ramping up side projects, a lot has been going on. But I feel things progressing -- my career, my life, my eventual journey into entrepreneurship. So excited to start this new chapter at Baremetrics!

That's all for now.
